Dr. Perry F. Smith
Dr. Perry F. Smith is a second-generation veterinarian. Dr. Smith’s father Dr. C. Perry Smith practiced in Miami, Florida for over 40 years. Dr. Perry F. Smith has continued his father’s legacy and has surpassed his expectations.
Dr. Smith has been the owner of both Animal Health Centerand Crescent City since 1999. He graduated from the Mississippi State University with his DVM degree in 1991. After practicing with his father in Miami, Dr. Smith bought the two practices here in North Florida and never looked back.
He grew up surrounded by animals and never questioned what he would do for a living. Dr. Smith enjoys interacting with his clients as much as he loves to see the patients. His real passion is surgery and he is an accomplished surgeon.
Dr. Smith lives in San Mateo with his wife Jill, their two sons (Cole and Jacob) and a farm full of cows, horses, and dogs. In his time off he enjoys welding, farming, diving and fishing in the Florida Keys.
Dr. Dan Grossman
Dr. Grossman has been an integral part of Animal Health Center since 2004. He is the doctor extraordinaire at the Crescent City location. Dr. Grossman, or Grossy as he is known, graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. He loves his clients, patients, and his staff and to him they are family! Dr. Grossman lives with 2 beautiful daughters, his wife. 5 cats and 2 dogs. On his time off he enjoys building and framing structures, playing guitar and drums.
Fun fact: Dr. Grossman has crossed the Atlantic Ocean on a ship!
Dr. Dawn Nagy
Dr. Nagy grew up in Pembroke Pines. She graduated from the University of Florida in 2002. We were lucky to get her to join our clinic in September of 2004. She is married to Dr. Grossman who actually purchased the Crescent City clinic in 2017. They, along with their children, live with 4 cats and 2 dogs. Dr. Nagy loves hanging out with family and friends, sewing, quilting, and fishing.
Dr. Marie Ashby
From Brookhaven, Mississippi, Dr. Ashby received her Bachelor of Science in 2003, and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2007 at Mississippi State. Dr. Ashby is a single mom to 2 wonderful children who know how to keep her on her toes! She currently has 2 pets. A British Shorthair (Cat) named Penelope, and an 8 month old mixed breed puppy.
Dr. Jim Hicks
Dr. Hicks is originally from South Carolina but has resided in the state of Florida for 40 years. He has been working here for 5+ years and has been such a joy for the entire team. Dr. Hicks earned his DVM at the University of Georgia in 1970. In his free time he enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his 3 kids, and 5 grandkids.
